I’ve never approached the dating scene from a senior’s point of view. We usually talk a lot of dating of young people, but what about those who want to find happiness at the age of 50 or above? If that’s your case and you want to know your options, read below.

Adapt yourself – You must realize that the world changes. The dating world has changed too. You probably had your dates when you were in your twenties and a lot have changed since then. Try to observe what others are doing and adjust yourself to the methods.

Internet – Internet is a great way to find singles of any age group. Learn the basics, learn how to set up a good profile, with good pictures and learn how to search and contact those who interest you. I’ve heard great stories about people who met over the internet, and it’s usual nowadays to find happy couples who met each other on singles sites.

The “old” Coffee Date – If you find someone of interest at any place, invite them for a quick coffee at your local coffee shop. If you find them interesting, ask them again until you feel comfortable to invite them for something more serious. If you don’t get what you want at least you met someone new, and that someone can hook you up with their friends.

Hobbies – It’s never too late to learn something new, and we all have our passions. Maybe you like books, then join a book group, or maybe you collect stamps, etc. Try to find a group who likes the same things you do. Be a volunteer for an organization or find someone with whom you can travel.

It may feel a little awkward to get back on the dating game again after so many years, but you’re not alone, believe me. There are a lot of people who are divorced or widowed feeling alone and waiting for someone to have fun and to share life. As always, try to have fun while you’re dating, even if it’s not the right person, the important thing is to have fun and make new friends until you strike gold. Good luck.
